Scripture Study

Discover the beauty of Scripture and grow in your relationship with Christ and others through the Holy Spirit Scripture Study groups. Using the Little Rock Scripture Study Series (approved by our Biship), we will embark on a journey of learning and fellowship.

Each week of study consists of reading passages and accompanying commentary, answering some questions, then coming together as a group for discussion. The cost to participate in any of the studies is $15 for the commentary and questions. All are welcome no matter where you are in your faith journey and regarless of your previous scripture study experience.

Current Meetings

Our studies will help you to discover the beauty of Scripture – its message, its people and the God we meet there. You will also meet amazing faith filled people in our parish. We have three groups to choose from:

Holy Spirit Scripture Study will begin a new series on the Book of Wisdom. Participants will discover how the lifestyles of the just and the unjust are portrayed in sharp contrast. The just follow the way of wisdom which leads to immortality. The author urges his audience to seek wisdom in order to find God. This is a six week study and begins Wednesday, March 21st. We meet in the Parish Hall library Wednesday mornings from 9:15-11:00 a.m. The cost of the study is $15 for the commentary and study questions.

Our Wednesday evening group will also start a new series on January 11: Minor Prophets of the Old Testament.  We will look at Amos, Hosea and Micah. These prophets are called “minor” because of the length of their writings, but they are no less minor in their message to the Israelites to return to the covenant! This group will meet 7-8:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall Library.  For more information on this study, please contact Mary Smith at maelsmith@att.net or Sue Seibert at shseibert@comcast.net.

Our Thursday morning study begins January 12 and will explore St Paul’s first Letter to the Corinthians. We will learn about the many divisions in the early church and how we are all one body, with many parts, each with their own gift. This group meets 8-9:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall Library.

All are welcome no matter your scripture study experience or where you are in your faith journey. The cost of the study is $15 for the commentary and study questions. For more info, contact Mary Kane at 997.6986 or Maryk5@pacbell.net.
